- Catch up on your Glee! You can read my “Music in Glee” mini review for “Run The World (Girls)” from episode 3 of season 3, “Asian F” here.

Rory’s first day at McKinley might not have been so “grand”, but Damian’s sure was! Irishman Damian McGinty might have needed subtitles on the The Glee Project (back when he was “crapping” himself with uncertainty), but not so on Glee! Where all is magically understood. Heh.
But New Directions newbie and resident leprechaun Rory Flanagan was simply “magical” himself, as Rachel so eloquently put it. Given two solos in his debut episode, it’s understandable why Damian was so humbly anxious about Gleeks’ reactions to his new character on Glee, and he totally killed it. If Cameron had to go home to pave the way for this dude’s vocals to get onto Glee, I’d say it was way worth it.
“Bein’ Green”, despite its stereotypical feel, was an amazing song choice that just worked. (Although I could be a little biased because I’m a big Kermit the Frog fan.) The lyrics really spun the song in a different and more emotional direction when sung by someone who is not literally green, and the melody blends perfectly with Damian’s voice. A strong favorite of mine, not only of Damian’s but of Glee in general.
If he knocked it out of the park with “Bein’ Green”, Damian really hit home with “Take Care of Yourself”. The song showcased his vocal range in a way I didn’t think was even possible (would make Nikki Anders proud), and I thought it was extra cute that Rory dedicated the song to his family back home in Ireland.
All in all, I’m more than pleased with Damian’s character, Rory as a continuing musical presence on Glee, how about you guys?
